The Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis recently released their draft report, and in it they urged the President to declare a national state of emergency.

In fact, the Commission specifically referenced the 9/11 attacks and the impact that the government’s response had to a common cause.

The parallels between 9/11 and the opioid crisis were also referenced as the report reads:

“With approximately 142 Americans dying every day, America is enduring a death toll equal to September 11th every three weeks.”
